About Singing for Peace
We started our Singing for Peace workshops in 2025 after we had each done a lot of heart
searching and felt an irresistible pull to somehow use our voices for change.
What to expect:
These workshops are for anyone searching for a way to use community song to change
the world. We have discovered a fantastic repertoire of songs on the themes
of peace, social justice and resistance and we invite you to explore and share them
with us.
We meet on Sunday afternoons in the beautiful surroundings of Cirencester Quaker
Meeting House and, as often as the weather allows, we sing in the peaceful garden.
Street Singing:
For those who are willing to take their voices out into the public domain, a week or
so later, we try to follow each workshop with a street singing opportunity.
We bring word‑sheets in case you forget, and we sing plenty of easy to remember
short songs that work well in the outdoors.
Fundraising:
When we sing out in the street we take buckets with us for passing listeners to
contribute to charities we've chosen in advance. We also donate a
proportion of our workshop fees to the same appeals.
In our first year we raised £395 and donated to 5 charities supporting peace
and social justice.
